Six Training Agencies Form
Group To Make Referrals Easier..
Six U.S. based training
agenciesIDEA, PDIC, NASDS, NAUI,
SSI and YMCAhave agreed to work
together to create a universal program
for open water referrals.
This collaborative effort was formed in
response to demand from dive retailers,
resorts and consumers, who for many years
have wanted an easy, customer-friendly
diver referral process. Currently,
students must be referred within the
network of the agency with whom they
began their training. This is not
practical or possible for all divers. The
current diver referral system creates an
unnecessary inconvenience.
The intent of a Universal Referral
Program is to improve customer service,
because referrals happen at a crucial
time in the development of new divers. A
positive impression of the sport at this
stage dramatically improves their chances
of long-term participation. For this
reason, a Universal Referral Program has
benefits to every segment of the dive
industry.
Creating a Universal Referral Program is
not without some challenging issues.
Therefore, the development team includes
legal professionals, insurance brokers,
risk management consultants and the top
training personnel from each
participating agency. Under no
circumstances will a program be released
until all issues are addressed and
answered satisfactorily.
